How to make Origami

Is is very simple to make a basic origami. All you have to do is follow directions.

Equipment

The things that you might need are:
  • Paper
  • scissors (optional)
  • crayons (optional)
You need to also know how to do a basic fold,please see diagram above. You can start making a crane to begin with because it is easy and fun. After you should go on the computer or look at books to find more interesting and fun origami.

Origami paper

You can use any type of paper to make origami; although origami paper is the most suitable. There are many types of packaged origami paper that you can by in stores. In Japan this paper is called kami. Some are one-coloured pieces of paper, some are two-coloured pieces of paper and some are patterened. They use it instead of normal everyday copy paper. In addition you can use foil backed paper, it is just a thin sheet of foil glued to a sheet of thin paper. You can also glue tissue paper on a piece of aluminum foil. Then glue another piece of tissue foil on the other side so it is created like a sandwich. You can also use money. Money is great for gifts.
